What we keep, who sees it, and how to get it removed.
OpenBrew is competition software. It holds what a competition needs to run and nothing it doesn't. Plain language below; questions to matt@openbrew.nz.
Who runs OpenBrew
What we collect
If you enter a competition: your name and email address, and whatever else that competition asks for on its entry form — typically a phone number, a postal address for shipped entries, and your club. Plus the details of each entry (beer name, style, ABV, notes) and, if the competition charges a fee, a record of payment. Card details never touch OpenBrew; they go straight to Stripe.
If you judge or steward: the same contact details, plus your BJCP rank and id if you give them, your judging preferences, and the scoresheets you write.
If you organise: your name and email as an organisation member, and the settings you enter for your organisation and competitions.
Sign-in: we use magic links, so there are no passwords. A sign-in sets a session cookie in your browser. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
Who can see it
The organisers of the competition you took part in see everything you gave that competition. Judges see entry numbers and styles, not entrant names. Other entrants see published results only.
The operator can access all data on the platform for support and maintenance, and takes nightly backups. Nobody else is given access, and we don't sell or share it. The service runs on reputable third-party hosting, database, file-storage and email providers under their own terms, and your data is stored in Australia. Where a competition charges fees, payments are processed by Stripe. Where an organiser sends email through their own email service, that service handles those messages.
